Strategy

In January 2025, through the integration of the Internet Infrastructure business of GMO Internet Group and GMO AD Partners, we embarked on a new chapter as GMO Internet, Inc.

In October 2026, we welcomed GMO Commerce as a new member of our family, strengthening our comprehensive capabilities in the marketing domain and accelerating the further growth of our Internet Advertising and Media business. As the evolution of AI (artificial intelligence) continues to transform the structure of industry, we provide seamless support to our clients—from the launch of their businesses through customer acquisition and revenue expansion.

Segment Overview and Key Services

Business Status
(Internet Infrastructure Business)

The Internet Infrastructure business comprises three areas: the domain business, the cloud and hosting (rental server) business, and the Internet access (provider) business. Built upon a solid recurring revenue base from a subscription-based model, the business continues to achieve sustainable growth, driven by the expansion of our customer base and the ever-increasing volume of information on the Internet.

Domain Business

Through "Onamae.com by GMO," the domain business engages in direct sales to individual and corporate customers, as well as wholesale distribution to domain resellers in Japan and overseas.

Regarding domains as the starting point of all Internet services, we offer an extensive lineup of approximately 630 domain types and, through a thoroughly executed low-price strategy, command the No. 1 share of the domestic market* in registrations.

Cloud & Rental Server (Hosting) Business

In the cloud and rental server (hosting) business, we offer a broad lineup designed in pursuit of flexibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness to a wide range of users, from individuals to corporations. Our strength lies in a structure that handles development, sales, and support entirely in-house. By reflecting our customers' feedback in a timely manner, we will deliver the next generation of server infrastructure befitting the age of AI (artificial intelligence).

  • Onamae.com Rental Server A multi-functional shared server offering with a strong emphasis on cost-effectiveness
  • ConoHa byGMO Meeting a wide range of needs, from beginners to corporations, with "ConoHa WING," Japan's fastest server*; "ConoHa VPS," which can be freely customized and configured; and "ConoHa AI Canvas" for AI image generation

GPU Cloud Business

GMO Internet has been providing "GMO GPU Cloud," a high-caliber cloud service that meets the needs of the generative AI and high-performance computing (HPC) fields, since November 22, 2024.

Equipped with NVIDIA H200 Tensor Core GPUs and, as the first in Japan to adopt NVIDIA Spectrum-X—an Ethernet networking platform optimized for generative AI and HPC workloads—the service delivers high-performance computing resources together with an efficient foundation for AI development. In December 2025, we also launched a cloud service featuring NVIDIA HGX B300 with NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra, enabling support for the most advanced AI workloads. Through our commitment to cutting-edge technology and innovation, we deliver performance optimally suited to generative AI and machine learning development environments, reducing our customers' development workload while enhancing cost-effectiveness.

Internet Service Provider (ISP) Business

The Internet access (provider) business is the origin of our Company, having launched in 1995 as the founding business of GMO Internet Group. We have advanced in step with the spread of the Internet, and we provide our services on the foundation of the operational track record we have built over that time.

Our principal services include fiber-optic lines such as "GMO Tokutoku BB Hikari," "Docomo Hikari," and "au Hikari," as well as mobile Internet services. Through "GMO Tokutoku BB" for individual customers and "GMO BIZ Access" for corporate customers, we provide services optimized to the needs of each segment, supporting the creation of comfortable online environments.

While competition in the Internet access line market continues to intensify, room for growth nonetheless remains. Data traffic continues to increase with the adoption of generative AI and the widespread use of high-definition video, heightening demand for migration to ultra-high-speed, high-capacity services. Additional tailwinds include demand for equipment upgrades at corporations and public facilities, as well as the ongoing advancement of the GIGA School Program.

By responding precisely to these areas of demand, we will contribute to the provision of a faster and more stable Internet environment.

Business Status
(Internet Advertising and Media Business)

Internet Advertising Business

Internet advertising has already become the dominant force in Japan's advertising market, accounting for more than half of total ad spending. With the proliferation of AI (artificial intelligence), moreover, consumers are increasingly obtaining information from AI-generated answers rather than from search results, and a further shift toward "agentic commerce"—in which AI agents carry out purchases on consumers' behalf—is anticipated in the years ahead.

On October 1, 2026, in the Internet Advertising and Media business domain, we transitioned to a marketing business structure centered on GMO Commerce, Inc.* Building on ongoing customer relationships with 18,191 stores (as of the end of June 2026) across the retail, food service, and service industries, GMO Commerce provides marketing support that leverages AI and data, with social media management support as its starting point.

GMO NIKKO, Inc., drawing on its extensive expertise in digital marketing, plans and proposes solutions addressing every phase of the customer journey—from awareness of our clients' products and services through purchase and the cultivation of brand loyalty. Together with GMO Digital Lab, Inc., which handles in-store DX (digital transformation), this structure enables us to provide seamless, end-to-end support from building awareness through customer acquisition, store visits and purchases, and on to repeat-purchase promotion.

Internet Media Business

We operate our own media properties, including "michill by GMO," a lifestyle media site for women provided by GMO Insight, Inc., delivering information matched to the interests of consumers. A distinctive strength lies in the data we hold on consumers' interests and browsing behavior on these media—data of a different nature from ad delivery data or from customer touchpoints in physical stores.

GMO Internet Group's Group Management Strategy

GMO Internet Group pursues a group management strategy based on "decentralization of authority" and "creation of group synergy." To adapt to the rapidly changing Internet market, each group company focuses on its area of expertise, strategically allocating management resources to become No.1 in that field while operating independently.

Within this framework, GMO Internet, Inc. is responsible for "Internet connectivity (provider services), domains, cloud and rental servers (hosting), and the Internet Advertising and Media business."

Additionally, by sharing and reinforcing "GMOism," the collective philosophy and principles of GMO Internet Group, we continue to grow while generating group synergies.
