Work Life Balance
Valuing Both
Work and Life
From childbirth and parenting to caregiving and daily life, we provide diverse support systems tailored to each partner’s life stage and personal circumstances. We strive to create an environment where partners can work with peace of mind over the long term.
Childcare Support
To help partners thrive while raising children, we offer a range of support systems including leave policies, celebration allowances, in-house daycare, and babysitter subsidies.
Pregnancy & Birth
Paid Time Off for Prenatal Visits
Partners can take time off during working hours for regular prenatal checkups and other medical visits during pregnancy.
Maternity Leave
Maternity leave is available from six weeks before (or 14 weeks in the case of multiple births) to eight weeks after delivery.
Paternity Leave
Special leave is available for partners whose spouse is giving birth, allowing them to support childbirth and early parenting.
Childbirth Allowance
A congratulatory allowance is provided to celebrate the birth of a child and support the partner’s growing family.
Childcare
Childcare Leave
Partners can take a leave of absence until the child turns two, allowing them to focus fully on parenting.
Childcare Leave Benefits
If certain conditions are met, partners are eligible for employment insurance benefits during childcare leave to help ease financial stress.
School Event Leave
Special leave is available for school events such as entrance ceremonies, graduation, and parent-teacher meetings (for children up to junior high school).
Childcare Services
We offer access to daycare and babysitting services—including our in-house childcare facility—to support working parents from as early as 57 days after birth.
Opened in 2011 and renovated in 2021 to meet national daycare standards, GMO Bears is recognized under Japan’s Cabinet Office “Company-Led Childcare” initiative.
Capacity & Space
Up to 19 children in approx. 165 m² of space. The large facility ensures flexibility, even during infection outbreaks.
Affordable Fees
Monthly fees are just ¥15,000 (excl. tax), including lunch and diapers—designed to reduce the burden on working parents.
Located in the Office Building
Conveniently located in our HQ (Cerulean Tower), enabling parents to attend events or breastfeed during breaks.
Minimal Daily Belongings – Designed for Working Parents
At most daycare centers, parents must bring several items every day—such as 5–6 diapers, 2–3 towels, plastic bags, and even bedding for naps. These must also be taken home after pickup. At GMO Bears, we aim to reduce the daily burden on working moms and dads. Diapers, towels, and other supplies are provided on-site, and even time-consuming tasks like changing bed sheets are handled by the staff. Aside from a change of clothes, no daily belongings are needed—making life much easier for our busy partners.
Flexible Hours
Regular care: 8:00–19:00 (up to 11 hours)
Extended care: 19:00–21:00
Temporary care: ¥2,800/day (excl. tax)
Parent Access System
Registered family members (up to second-degree relatives) can enter the building for drop-off and pick-up.
App-Based Communication
Daily reports and updates are shared via app. Photos are shared through "SUZURI Album" by GMO Pepabo.
Parenting Consultation
Partners can consult experts on topics like breastfeeding, sleep, picky eating, and emotional support for parents.
Baby & Kids Sitter Service
Through a partnership with Kosodate Shien Co., Ltd.—the operator of GMO Bears—partners can use their babysitting service for free, up to one hour per month.
Support for Remote Work
Babysitters can come to your home, allowing you to focus during remote work. If you prepare lunch in advance, the sitter can also assist with feeding your child.
Flexible for Last-Minute Needs
The service can also respond to sudden situations, such as unexpected daycare closures due to illness outbreaks.
Balancing Work and Caregiving
Caregiving Support
We provide company-wide support for partners who are caring for a spouse, parent, child, or in-laws requiring nursing care.
Caregiving Leave
Partners can take up to 93 days of caregiving leave per eligible family member, which can be divided into up to three separate periods. This leave helps partners secure the time needed to arrange caregiving systems.
Caregiving Leave Benefits
If certain conditions are met, partners may receive benefits from employment insurance, equivalent to about 67% of their salary during the caregiving leave period.

Promoting Women's Empowerment
Eruboshi (2 stars) certification
GMO Internet is committed to building a workplace where women can work and grow in ways that suit them. We have been awarded the Eruboshi (2 stars) certification by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, based on meeting criteria such as hiring, retention, and the ratio of women in management. We continue to strengthen our systems and company culture to create an inclusive environment where all partners can thrive, regardless of gender.
